Otter Tail County DFL sent Twenty Two Resolutions to the State DFL Convention for Consideration

AGRICULTURE

Be it resolved that agricultural practices that promote the long-term sustainability of our soils and waters be encouraged and supported.

CIVIL, HUMAN, and CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS

Be it resolved that our civil liberties not be further eroded to "keep US safe."

CONSUMER ISSUES

Be it resolved that "country of origin labeling" on food products be implemented and enforced.

Be it resolved that credit card companies be more closely regulated to protect the public.

Be it resolved that the government enforce more stringent controls and do more testing to make our foods safe.

EDUCATION

Be it resolved that the Minnesota DFL party support increased state investments to have parents access quality child care and early childhood education programs so as to prepare children for kindergarten and life-long success.

Be it resolved that the "no-child-left-behind" law be abolished.

GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY to the PUBLIC

Be it resolved that the Minnesota DFL party promote transparency and accountability in all areas of government.

Be it resolved that all projects to be funded be disclosed, discussed, and voted on at both the state legislative level and the congressional level, as the case may be.

HEALTH and HUMAN SERVICES

Be it resolved that the Minnesota DFL party support passage of the Children's Health Security Act to ensure that all children have access to affordable and quality health care coverage.

Be it resolved that the Veterans Administration be fully funded to provide for the needs of existing and new veterans in a timely manner.

Be it resolved that the Medicare Part D be modified to include and allow for negotiation with pharmaceutical companies on drug costs and elimination of the "donut hole."

NATIONAL SECURITY and INTERNATIONAL POLICY

Be it resolved that a timetable be established for the removal of US troops from Iraq and for the termination of support of the military effort in Iraq.

Be it resolved that the United States not enter into any war without a declaration of war by the US Congress.

Be it resolved that the United States must work in partnership with the free world in solving the world's problems.

NATURAL RESOURCES and the ENVIRONMENT

Be it resolved that development of affordable and environmentally clean alternative fuels be a high priority.

Be it resolved that the Minnesota DFL party support the passage of the "protecting our water, our land, and our way of life" amendment.

Be it resolved that farmers be provided credits to protect wetlands and grasslands thereby adding to sequestered carbon in the prairie pothole regions and contributing to global climate control.

RETIREMENT POLICY

Be it resolved that the Minnesota DFL party assure that Medicare regional parity be established to make sure that Minnesota seniors are not "punished" for staying in Minnesota.

TAX and BUDGET POLICY

Be it resolved that the alternative minimum tax be indexed for inflation.

TRANSPORTATION

Be it resolved that the Minnesota DFL party support long-term transportation funding to construct, operate, and maintain safe highways, bridges, and transit.

Be it resolved that a national infrastructure development plan be initiated and funded to address our road, transportation, and electrical power and communication systems.
